As a fiction and nonfiction writer, my stories focus on themes of femininity, queerness, and social issues through the lenses of horror and humor. Currently, I am in the process of querying literary agents for my debut novel Love, Forever. I also produce a variety of short stories and personal essays for my Substack, Maya's Messy Musings. In addition to my writing career, I also serve as a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools, as well as a tutor through Educational Endeavors. I work with students from preK to 12th grade on a variety of subjects, and am especially passionate about reaching students of diverse backgrounds through creative, imaginative, and empathic teaching practices. In my free time, I am a proud cat mom, competitive jigsaw puzzler, crafter, horror nerd, and unabashed reality television enjoyer.I'd love to connect – shoot me an email.
